Happy New Year!
Hope you had a safe and enjoyable holiday, and are looking
forward to a great New Year. Have a few tidbits of info that I need
to share with you about our systems and some problems that have
cropped up in the last few weeks with them.

ETrans Manager
Some Microsoft Updates have been hitting the TwinEngines servers
in the last few weeks that are causing the Import Transactions
screen to not function properly. When users attempt to import
transactions, the import process doesn't appear to do anything
after you hit the "Import Transactions" button. What is happening
is that "KB3104002 Cumulative security update for IE11" gets
applied to the server and updates a Microsoft scripting dll. This
update introduces a bug in the dll which causes ETrans to think
that a 0 byte file was uploaded to the system.
To fix this issue, download version 1.83 of ETrans Manager from
here:
TwinEngines
Downloads
Be sure that you are on version 1.84 of CMSWebServices as well
(see Site Admin->Release Notes for the CMSWebServices version).
If you need to upgrade CMSWebServices, do it first, then upgrade
ETrans. Also, if you have Discharges, make sure you upgrade that to
1.96.
PERMS Integrator and RCAS
There is a permissions related issue with the new VTE_USER
account that RCAS has created to give our systems access to their
database. This error occurs when you try to export RPAM statements.
You will get this error:
ORA-00904: "DBMS_LOB"."GETLENGTH": invalid identifier
The problem here is that the VTE_USER (or more specifically the
XTE_SESSION database role of which VTE_USER is a member of) doesn't
have rights to execute the "GETLENGTH" function. As part of their
security hardening, RCAS removes ALL rights to functions in Oracle
unless explicitly granted. We are working with RCAS to get the
VTE_USER account privileges to execute this function, but we have
to have an official state representative request the change. They
can't accept change requests from TwinEngines. In the meantime, to
resolve this issue, you can get your RCAS DBA to run this
SQL: grant execute on sys.DBMS_LOB to XTE_SESSION;
Discharges
Our new version of the Discharges application is available for
beta testing. It is now part of the TwinEngines Web Application
Suite and can be downloaded from the "BETA Releases" section from
our downloads page (see link above). This version can run
concurrently with the older version of Discharges. They are
separate systems and will not interfere with each other. If you
would like to give it a try, you can do so without worrying about
your production system.
You can take a look at the new interface for handling the NGB22
in the Discharges section of our demo site:

Videos
Also available is a demo showing the AWOL Discharge case type
that is now a part of the Discharges application as well as a demo
that show you how you can customize the cases within your state
(specifically how the AWOL Discharge case type was created). Coming
soon we will add demos showing the other case types that come with
the new Discharges system, including Mandatory Removals, Forced
Separations, and ETS (including the process to both re-enlist with
the DA4836 and Discharge them).
If you are interested in doing a DCS for a live demo with a
question and answer session, or are interested in testing the beta
version, just contact me and we can set that up.
