Feature

PERMS Integrator

We received the maintenance contract for PERMS Integrator from NGB this month. You can now download the latest release (v6.4 May 2015) from our downloads website. This version includes the PDF to TIFF and Word to TIFF functionality which allows you to convert PDF and Word documents to TIFF images, index them within PERMS Integrator, and send them to PERMS via the XML batch import process. It also includes enhanced integration with our Case Management and Awards systems. In our Awards system, you can now approve an award and the award certificate/memo gets automatically generated and sent to PERMS Integrator where it can be pushed over into PERMS. In our Case Management system, you can attach documents to a case in either Word, PDF, or TIFF format, have the case go through a customizable routing/approval process, then send the attached documents to PERMS as a step in the process.

Also included in this release is a beta version of new functionality for RPAM. The new version of RCAS removes the SSN from the RPAM statement, so PERMS Integrator can no longer parse through the document to get the SSN we need to send to PERMS. The new functionality accesses the RPAM database directly and pulls the data out of the RPAM tables just like we do with MILPO Orders.

The new version of RCAS also causes a bug in Microsoft's OLEDB Provider for Oracle. You can get a "data type not supported" error now when attempting to export orders from MILPO Orders. The fix for this is easy - just switch to using Oracle's OLEDB Provider, which you can do on the Database tab of the PERMS Integrator configuration. This latest version however, will do that for you.

Awards Tracking System

A new version of the Awards Tracking System is now available. As mentioned above, this version includes integration with PERMS Integrator so that you can send your award documents directly to PERMS. It also now includes a DA638 Board function.

Case Management

We've been working with multiple states to expand our library of pre-defined work-flow/approval processes for our Case Management system. These are available here:

Case Management Case Type Library

We've created an online demo of how our Case Management system can be used to manage the process for Discharging/Separating a soldier because of being AWOL. This process routes the documentation through the FTM/S1 personnel and Commander at each level, to either the G1 Enlisted Branch or the G1 Officers Branch, to the G1 Director, then to the TAG for final approval. After the final approval, the accompanying documentation is sent to PERMS and new tasks and approvals are created for the G1 branches to create the orders within MILPO Orders and to complete the NGB22 and get it approved. SQL Server Authentication

New releases of our products are available which now support Integrated Windows Authentication for accessing SQL Server. This will allow you to turn off "Mixed Mode" authentication on your SQL Server so that only network accounts are allowed access to SQL Server (i.e. SQL Server Accounts will no longer be allowed to connect). This is considered a more secure authentication method and your network security folks may request this.
